I have realized that in cameras, specialized receptors help to {focus|concentrate|maintain focus|target|a**** automatically. Those kind of sensors regarding some camcorders change in contrast, while others start using a beam associated with infra-red (IR) light, specially in low light. Higher spec cameras sometimes use a combination of both systems and may have Face Priority AF where the photographic camera can 'See' some sort of face and concentrate only in that.
